Field visit to the Roman City of Sagunto, Valencia, Spain

On Saturday, December 3rd, as part of the agenda of the Technical Training in Cultural Heritage in Valencia, GeoTAK partners did a field trip to the Roman City of Sagunto, 29 km from Valencia.

After the theoretical and practical lectures during the week, the Armenian and Kyrgyz partners had the opportunity to discover the Roman archaeological site of the Via del Portico (2nd-3rd century AD) and the Domus dels Peixos (2nd century AD) with a local expert. Then, we visited the Roman theater built around 50 AD on the northern slope of the city of Sagunto, and the Castle of Sagunto, a fortress located on top of the hill that overlooks the city and was occupied by Iberians, Romans, Visigoths and Muslims.
